"The
Coaching Program has provided a model for our office to help
it run more efficiently, more productively, and more profitably.
It has empowered each staff member to be a leader but yet
work together as a cohesive team committed to the welfare
of our patients and the success of our practice.
Before
The Coaching Program, our office operated at a break neck
speed in four operatories scheduled a full 8 hours per day,
4 days per week, 52 weeks per year with numerous staff running
"to and fro" to produce the "numbers" by quantity versus quality.
This produced a lot of busyness, stress, lack of communication,
and lowered the quality of dentistry. We
were taught how to continue working hard but smart while in
the office and to schedule time off for needed relaxation
to rejuvenate our bodies and minds.
The
Coaching Program enabled us to create a mutual team vision
for our office and to set goals to accomplish that purpose.
It taught team members to be proactive and to take ownership
in the practice. Block scheduling allows more one-on-one time
with the patient and completion of larger segments of treatment
per visit. This permits a higher
quality of dentistry in a less stressful atmosphere and builds
closer patient/doctor/staff relationships. It taught
us to communicate with our patients, to find out their wants
and expectations and above all to listen. Many principles
of this coaching carry over into our personal and family lives.
Our team of professionals all contribute to a well-informed
patient who is treated respectfully with integrity and provided
outstanding state of the art dentistry. This fosters relationships
that last a lifetime."
-- Rita Elder, R.D.H. with Dr. Mike Puckett, Jamestown,
NC
"Prior
to The Coaching Program, our dental office was very hectic
and disorganized. Every treatment chair was utilized at the
same time, including hygiene. This means that the doctor had
two rooms for treatment, operating at the same time along
with two hygiene chairs that needed the doctor for exams every
forty-five minutes with two more patients due to come in for
treatment in thirty minutes. This does not include the time
needed for chart entries, sterilizing or the disinfecting
of treatment rooms, pouring models, lab, RX., etc. So this
meant very little time for anyone to be with a patient. The
doctor anesthetizes, then leaves, then comes back to do treatment
on patient and then says, "goodbye" and that is it! It's very
difficult to establish much of any relationship with your
patients. What a tight schedule! Where did emergencies go?
Good question. They had to be squeezed into a time slot that
was already overbooked. Yes, you are tired at the end of the
day and not very productive!
When
The Coaching Program was introduced to our office,
it seemed too good to be true. Block
Scheduling, less stress, specific times in the day for specific
treatment and additional earned (bonus) income! Wow! But
with some adjusting and a little re-adjusting in addition
to having a dedicated doctor and dental team, it worked. Change
isn't usually easy, but it was certainly worth it. We became
even more organized, more positive, and productive and we
were able to give our patients so much more. We are able to
treat them and have a relationship with them too. Our Dr.
has time to really listen to and answer patient's questions.
We all work more as a team. We re-focus, brainstorm, attend
continuing education classes, attack problems together, do
community charity work, and patients can see that we all love
what we do and have fun at it. With the extensive technical
classes our Dr. has attended, we are able to offer our patients
even more in the way of options and newest techniques, procedures
and materials. The doctor is able
to attend these classes on our weeks off and still have a
few weeks for actual vacations.
I
believe the key to making The Coaching Program work so well
is to go for it. If the doctor and staff work toward
the goals they set, combined with Dr. Willis and his staff's
coaching, the only things to lose are the things you don't
want or need anyway; like stress, less vacation, less money,
less time with your patients, each other and your family."
-- Annette McMillan-Braetzkus, Assistant/Treatment
Coordinator
with Dr. Mike Puckett, Jamestown, NC
"What
I like about The Coaching Program is how organized it makes
us compared to other places I've worked. I like how not just
one or two people care about how organized things are, but
the whole staff cares. The benefits
with this program are wonderful. You feel like
you are being rewarded for a job well done, therefore, you
work hard to earn those rewards. Ultimately, having this atmosphere
makes a person less likely to leave this job. That way the
staff stays longer, patients don't see a new, unfamiliar face
every visit. This makes patients happier and more comfortable.
This office has earned a reputation
of having a happy, stable staff that works great together
and cares about their patients."

Puckett, Jamestown, NC
